PUBLIC LIBRARY DIVISION
PURPOSE
To foster and promote activities that support public libraries and public library staff in Arizona and encourage their development and growth.
COMMON ISSUES AND GOALS
􀂃 To encourage and support the improvement, development and extension of public libraries and their services in Arizona.
􀂃 To stimulate interest in and awareness of public library services.
􀂃 To provide opportunities for discussions, programs and activities centering on public library topics and issues at AzLA conferences and other events.
􀂃 To cooperate with AzLA, its divisions, roundtables and other units to enhance the role of public libraries in the state of Arizona.
􀂃 To sponsor programs and continuing education opportunities that encourage interest in careers in public libraries.
LEADERSHIP
The chair will provide the Elections/Appointments committee with a candidate for appointment every year. Term of office for each chair will be a period of one year.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
􀂃 Meetings will be held once a year or as requested by the chair.
􀂃 Communication with members will be via interest group listserv, mailings and the Association newsletter.
􀂃 The President-Elect will be assigned to Conference Program Committee annually to insure program development that will meet the needs of members.
􀂃 Reports will be submitted to the association secretary quarterly for presentation at executive board meetings.
􀂃 An annual report will be submitted to the association secretary two weeks prior to the annual business meeting.
􀂃 Budget requests will be submitted to the association treasurer two weeks prior to quarterly executive board meetings.
